Jeff Kuchcinski, our "Coach for Life," offered us
8 Ways to gain peace:
- Learn to let go of things that need to be let go of.
What you hold in your mind is what holds you back from being your true self.
- Have faith in yourself.
- Cultivate and preserve a positive mental attitude.
- Be realistic.
- Give unconditional love.
- Express gratitude.
- Know the meaning of sacrifice. Do not seek, but give.
- Reorient your thinking. Learn to appreciate yourself.
NEW HHYS KEY CLUB

Nate Green, Key Club President, receives the official gavel from Kiwanis President, Mark Hutchison
Hermitage House has become the very first youth agency nationally to form a Key Club. Today, the Edinboro Kiwanis granted the students with a charter establishing Hermitage House as an official member of Kiwanis International. And, though the charter might be new, the commitment of the youth to serve the community is actually well-established already. The youth are busy year-round with projects to improve their world. They take part in “green” activities such as involving the Edinboro area businesses in recycling newspapers. They care for our military serving abroad by sending blankets and neck coolers and for those who are injured by participating in the “Quilts of Valor” Program. The students make fleece blankets for children in foster care and pillows for breast cancer survivors. They raise money for wheelchairs for Iraqi citizens injured by the war. Some of the youth recently fasted through World Vision’s 3-Hour Famine in order to raise money for food and inoculations for children living in poverty. On June 13 and 14 many of the Hermitage House youth will walk in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” event at General McLane High School.
Mark Hutchison, the current president of the Edinboro Kiwanis Club was amazed and proud that a youth agency here in Erie County would be the first to initiate a Key Club. “No other youth agency in our country has done what these students are doing. The Kiwanis members were invited to a luncheon today where they shared their pride in these youth. The members were also surprised by the quality of “The Key,” a student-led newsletter which was initially started through a grant from the Best Buy Foundation. Mrs. Pat Baker, a Kiwanis member, happily received two fleece blankets donated by the youth which will be given as prizes at the annual Fourth of July “Duck Race” at Mallory Run.
